The Al-Mashreqiya Community Project is considered one of the pioneering residential projects affiliated with the National Housing Company. It aims to provide an integrated residential community comprising diverse residential units with modern specifications suitable for various categories, along with supporting facilities and services that enhance the quality of life and align with the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 in developing the housing sector.
During the project development phases, the project management faced an operational challenge represented by the National Water Company's sewage network not reaching the site, which necessitated the establishment of an independent sewage treatment plant that serves the project with high efficiency.
In this context, Isnad Solutions for Environmental Consulting prepared an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) study for the establishment of a wastewater treatment plant using modern MBBR technology, which is considered an advanced, highly efficient technology for treating wastewater and reducing environmental impact.
The study represented a complex technical and environmental challenge due to the plant's proximity to residential units, where the study focused on:
Assessing potential impacts of odors and emissions.
Studying noise levels resulting from operation.
Developing engineering and operational measures to limit the impact on residents.
Designing solutions for ventilation, treatment, and odor control.
Ensuring the plant's compliance with Saudi environmental regulations.
Following the implementation of the proposed environmental solutions and approved mitigation measures, the Environmental Impact Assessment was approved by the competent authorities, and the construction environmental permit for the facility was successfully issued.
Esnad Solutions continued its environmental support during the operational phase by conducting an Environmental Audit Study to evaluate the facility's environmental performance and verify the effectiveness of odor and noise control measures. The study confirmed the facility's compliance with the applicable environmental requirements, leading to the successful issuance of the Operational Environmental Permit.
